Dr. Annie Shrestha is a certified dental specialist in Endodontics. Dr. Shrestha obtained her dental degree from Nepal (2005), M.Sc. from Singapore (2009), and Ph.D. (2013) and M.Sc. Endodontics (2017) from the University of Toronto. She is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto where she is involved in teaching and research (https://www.dentistry.utoronto.ca/faculty-profiles/annie-shrestha).
She is passionate towards academics and advanced research in nanotechnology and chronic oral infections. She maintains an independent laboratory with research focus on host immune response and biomaterials towards immunomodulation. Her research focuses to expand on immunomodulation by utilizing biomaterials to achieve better therapeutics. She currently serves as a member of the AAE Regenerative Endodontics Committee, Scientific Advisory Board of the Journal of Endodontics and Frontiers in Dentistry. She is a recipient of several awards and honors including, the Endodontic Educator Fellowship Award from the American Association of Endodontists Foundation in 2018 and the Research Grant from the from the American Association of Endodontists Foundation in 2019. She has lectured internationally and published extensively in Endodontic literature. She serves in the Scientific Advisory Board of the Journal of Endodontics and is a reviewer for several peer-reviewed journals.
Aside from she loves to cook, eat and enjoy outdoors with her family and friends. She contributes her time to community work by participating in various activities and fundraisers to give back to her home country Nepal.
